PDF Editor & Annotator — Complete Guide & Instructions
MakeCard PDF Editor & Annotator is a full in-browser editing canvas for PDF documents. Load a file and its pages render on stage where you can drop text boxes, draw signature strokes on a dedicated pad, place images, paint whiteout over unwanted areas and draw rectangles — then move, resize, recolor and reorder each annotation before saving. Page management is built in too, including a one-click page delete. When you save, all annotations are flattened into a new PDF that downloads instantly.
How to Use PDF Editor & Annotator
- 1 Drop your document on "Select PDF Document to Edit" or click "Choose PDF File".
- 2 Pick a tool from the toolbar — "Select", "Text", "Whiteout", "Rectangle" — or press "Image" / "Signature" to load one.
- 3 Click the page to place text or an image; click-and-drag to draw whiteout or a rectangle.
- 4 Switch to "Select" to move annotations, drag the corner dot to resize, and adjust text, size and color in the "Selected" panel.
- 5 Draw a signature on the pad, click "Use Signature", then click the page to stamp it.
- 6 Press "Save Edited PDF" — annotations are flattened into the downloaded file.

Practical Everyday Use Cases
- Signing a contract or consent form by drawing a signature and stamping it in place.
- Filling non-fillable PDFs — place text boxes over the blanks and type.
- Covering an old address or date with whiteout, then typing corrected text on top.
- Stamping received marks, company logos or photos onto documents.
- Marking up a draft with rectangles and notes before sharing feedback.
Pro Tips for Best Results
- Use the "Select" tool whenever you want to reposition annotations — the placement tools only add new ones.
- Double-click any text annotation to edit its wording without re-creating the box.
- Cover sensitive data with whiteout only if the output stays with you — for guaranteed removal, the Redact tool burns content out permanently.
- Keep an unedited copy before saving — once annotations are flattened into the PDF they cannot be repositioned.
Common Problems & Solutions
Switch the toolbar back to "Select" — placement tools keep the crosshair cursor and existing annotations ignore clicks until Select is active.
After "Use Signature", a single click stamps it at that point — use the "Select" tool afterward to drag it precisely onto the signature line.
Whiteout paints a white layer over content; for sensitive data that must be truly gone, use the Redact PDF tool which flattens pages to images.
Privacy & Security
100% Client-Side Execution
Every annotation is drawn and flattened locally — your PDF, plus any signature or image you add, never leaves the browser. There is no upload step at any point.
